Hack The Future!
One of the ways in which we fail women in computer science, on boards or in leadership positions is by assuming that we know them. This assumption is, for the most part, neither egregious nor unusual. However, such assumptions create unequal access even in environments that are supportive and awake to the importance of supporting women. Many of these differences could, of course, be experienced by men, as well. This does not diminish their importance —
women’s issues are often about human issues that can improve everyone’s lives if addressed.
It is time for #WomenOnIT to hack the future!
We still have much to learn about how to discuss diversity issues productively and with empathy for all. More importantly, we need a bridge for conversation, creating valuable networks of like-minded women and men who are going to stump their foot down when inequalities happen.
